Talking to others that I know, I came to find that while this practice certainly isn’t common, it is by no means rare, and thus I thought there would be no problems having you there to co-officiate my wedding. Allow me to explain.<br /><br /> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;One of the aspects of the Lutheran faith that I held very high in regard was our seeming lack of emphasis on what I viewed as petty ritualism. All the hand symbols, the “holy water” at the entrance, the arcane prayers (the Rosary, etc), all these sorts of seemingly unnecessary things (in my eyes) were cut out of our worship, so that we could focus in a more direct way on the content and meaning of worship, rather than getting so hung up on all of these seemingly needless details. Basically, it seemed that Catholicism was hung up on how to worship, while we were focused on simply worshipping. This makes the most sense to me, and it’s always been a secret source of pride about my Church.
